When the Zebra print drivers are not keeping their preferred default settings (transfer roll vs. thermal, etc.),  go into the Windows Control Panel and select "Devices and Printers".  Right-click on the print driver in question and select "Printer Properties."

then, select the "Advanced" tab. 

then, select the Printing Defaults button in the lower left-hand part of the dialog box.  (screenshot below). 

Edit the default settings based on user requirements.
